“Enter Jamestown by way of High Point Road on a Thursday evening, and you will hear music. Loud music. Music that may seem more fitting in the Scottish highlands, not the Piedmont of North Carolina. But a glance in the direction of where the music is coming from confirms it. It really is bagpipe music.”

- Greensboro News and Record

Deep within the piedmont of North Carolina you will find the quaint town of Jamestown, home to the Jamestown Pipes and Drums. Our organization is a competition and performance band consisting of musicians who play the Great Highland Bagpipe and Scottish style snare, tenor and bass drums. Jamestown Pipes and Drums are proud members of the Southern Branch of the Eastern United States Pipe Band Association (E.U.S.P.B.A) and compete in both Grade 4 and 5 EUSPBA sanctioned events.

We have been regular participants in civic events and highland games around North Carolina and the Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States since the late 1990s. Our organization draws membership from the Piedmont Triad, the Triangle and the Charlotte area of North Carolina. Several members travel from the Danville and Roanoke,  Virginia. Jamestown Pipes and Drums is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization [501(c)(3)] dedicated to bringing the music of the Great Highland Bagpipes and Scottish Style drumming to the public.

We began our journey in 1999 when several musicians (pipers and drummers) who lived and worked in the Triad, decided to form The Jamestown Pipes and Drums. Under the leadership of Pipe Major Kyle Auman, Jamestown Pipes and Drums has grown from a Grade 5 competition band to a very successful Grade 4 competition band. Jamestown Pipes and Drums has seen many years of success in the competition world while continuing to maintain a solid reputation as a performance band.

Our band keeps an active schedule year round with competition and performances. In order to prepare for our numerous events, the band practices every Thursday at the Jamestown United Methodist Church in Jamestown, NC from 6:30am to 8:30pm. Our practices are always open to the public and we encourage those curious about the band to stop by and see what we are all about.

Over the years, Jamestown Pipes and Drums has relied on the meeting space provided to us by Jamestown United Methodist Church. The band offers our continued appreciation for their generosity in providing us a space to practice our craft and continue to fulfill our mission, bringing the music of the Great Highland Bagpipe to  the community.

The Scottish National Tartan

We are proud to wear the Scottish National Tartan. We wear this tartan in honor of Scotland, her music and her people. Many of whom have settled in North Carolina since colonial times and have made our state’s culture and heritage all the more rich by their influence.
